This is amphora, a vertical design studio that focuses on the assimilation of the Greek community in Astoria, New York. It helps with pro-bono projects for the purpose of expanding cultural and educational institutions for the Greek immigrants. astoria among many cultures has the largest Greek community outside of Greece. The community depends on private facilities that have been around since the 1930s when the second wave of immigrants came with the thoughts of a permanent stay. The anthora cup is a perfect example of the assimilation as it was mispronounced from the name of a traditional ancient Greece vase- the amphora. Since its creation at 1963 it had become an iconic NYC item representing the greeks taking over delis all over NYC and fueling New Yorkers with their beloved caffeine.
